“EVERYBODY” (1982)

FORMATS: 12" Vinyl
HISTORY AND NOTES: Madonna's very first single was supposed to be "Ain't No Big Deal", but after another act recorded the song, that plan was ditched in favor of "Everybody" ("Ain't No Big Deal" would eventually turn up as a b-side on 1986's "True Blue" single). "Everybody" was released in 1982 as a 12" vinyl (which interestingly did not feature a picture of Madonna herself) and became a big hit in the clubs (peaking at #3 on the dance chart), but unfortunately it did not do very well on mainstream radio, and peaked at #7 on the Hot 100 Bubbling Under chart. The track would be included on Madonna's debut album, which would be released seven months later in 1983, and also on 1987's remix compilation You Can Dance.
